Sisters Oregon - Oregon Information

Sisters takes the name of the nearby Three Sisters Mountains.
There is no better view of them than from this little town. Ponderosa Pine Tree forest and wide meadows surround Sisters giving it a classic western setting. Modern buildings sport false fronts and covered sidewalks. Shopping seems to be the towns main theme.

Western and Indian themes are predominate in the galleries and clothing stores.

Once, just a place to stop for gas on the way to Bend, Oregon, Sisters, Oregon is now a must see destination by itself. A real tourist attraction...

McKenzie Pass, Oregon - A Scenic Drive

One of the most breathtaking sections of the roads in the state of Oregon begins just west of Sisters, Oregon. Highway 242 which is only open in the summer, climbs to McKenzie Pass from where there is a sweeping panorama of the Cascade Mountain Range.

Lava fields surround the pass, and are some of the most recent lava flows in Oregon. Observation buildings made of lava rock provides observation points of the lava fields and snow covered mountains.
