Klamath Falls Oregon - Oregon Information

City (1990 pop. 17,737),
Seat of Klamath County,
Soutwest Oregon, at the southern tip of Upper Klamath Lake
Incorporated 1905.

Klamath Falls is the processing and distributing center of a lumber, livestock, and farm area. Lumber, dairy, and grain products are central to the city's economy, and area tourism is popular.

Klamath Falls was settled in 1867 as Linkville. The Klamath irrigation project (1900) and the coming of the railroad (1909) stimulated its growth from a hamlet to a thriving city.

The Oregon Institute of Technology is in Klamath Falls.

Crater Lake National Park, Lava Beds National Monument, and a Native American reservation are nearby.
