Airlines - Siskiyou Summit

Regularly scheduled airlines fly into Medford, Klamath Falls and Eugene. Most people access the area via Interstate 5. Highway 101 on the coast and 97 on the east slope of the Cascades are also possibilities.

Siskiyou Summit pass on the California border is only about 3,000 feet high, but winter storms can make it particularly treacherous. Tire chains are absolutely required in icy conditions. The state police set up checkpoints and will not allow you to use the freeway unless you have chains.

On the coast, US 101 is the main highway. It rarely gets snow, but high water and mudslides can close the road in the winter.

In general if you are traveling anywhere in Oregon from November to March, keep an eye on the weather forecast and road conditions.
