Economy and Climate - Southern Oregon

Southern Oregon is outside the main population centers of the state, so cities are much smaller and the area has a very rural flavor. Major industries are tourism, wood products and agriculture. The climate is generally milder and more Mediterranean than North Western Oregon. Average rainfallis about 20 % lower and the temperatures are a bit higher. Snow on the ground is a rare event in Medford or Roseburg, though Klamath Falls has more extreme weather because of the elevation. Summers are hot and dry.
