reservoir at the upper end of the placer ground, which is now being worked. This reservoir has received attention this week from the force of employees and the face of its walls has been raised several feet and its capacity has been correspondingly increased. It is also being made into a "self shooter" with the ingenious contrivance by which the reservoir discharges itself by the weight of the overflow water, the gate dropping again of its own accord as soon as the reservoir is empty.

The water of Jones Creek, the former water supply of the mine is still utilized and helps to augment the volume of the ground sluice. The Jones Creek water is collected in the upper reservoir. The present flow of water fills the reservoir about five or six times in a 24-hour period. In addition to the other active machinery at the dam, the sawmill has been in operation a portion of the present week, cutting lumber for flumes.

The Golden Drift Mining Company Dam was started in 1902 and finished in 1903 by C.W. Ament. The mining property consisted of 1000 acres between Jones Creek and Bloody Run Creek. The area mined was known as the Dry Diggings, located two miles west of the city on Foothill Blvd [old garbage dump area] All that is left of the dam ... Continued - END
